Our kids have missed out on many experiences due to COVID-19 these past few months, but summer isn’t lost yet! Heritage Park Alliance Church is thrilled to be offering HPAC Kids’ Camp again this year!
Although it’s clear that Kids’ Camp is going to be different, the heart of Kids’ Camp will still be the same. We’ve been hard at work making plans and reviewing government guidelines to ensure that we are covering every base in keeping our campers, families, volunteers and staff safe.
This year, camper capacity has been reduced by more than half, and this change will affect how our families register. In order to serve as much of our community as possible, families will be able to register for up to 2 weeks of camp. Should families want to register for more than 2 weeks, they will be added to a waitlist and notified if spots become available.
As always, registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis. After requesting which weeks you would like to register for, we will contact you with the availability of the weeks requested and links to complete the registration process.

Health and Safety Measures for Camp Participants
- We are increasing the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting objects, toys, equipment and frequently touched items/areas.
- Single use items (e.g., craft supplies) will be used wherever possible. All other items will be made of material that can be cleaned and disinfected.
- Proper hand hygiene practices will be promoted and performed frequently throughout the day.
- Physical distancing of at least 2 meters will be encouraged by:
- Reducing capacity in a classroom (maximum 10 individuals)
- Activities that encourage/allow for space between participants
- Visual cues (signs, posters, floor markings)
- Spreading camp participants, equipment, and activity stations into different areas
- Campers will be in consistent cohorts of 10 members (8 kids, 2 leaders)
- While close contact may be unavoidable between members of a cohort, physical distancing and general infection prevention and control practices will be encouraged and implemented
- Cohorts will not mix with other cohorts or use the same room/space/equipment until after sanitization
- Face coverings, while encouraged, are not mandatory but will be used by staff when it is not possible to maintain 2 meters distance
- Separate washroom areas will be designated for certain cohorts and cleaned frequently throughout the day
- Personal belongings brought to camp should be labeled and will be kept in an area designated for the individual’s cohort.
- Personal belongings brought to camp should be minimal (e.g. backpack, lunch, water bottle, sunscreen)
- All provided snacks will be prepared and distributed using best health and safety practices
- Campers who wish to bring their own nut-free snacks may do so
- All pick-up and drop-off transitions will take place outside
- Before entering, all camp participants will be asked a series of screening questions, will have their temperature taken, and be required to sanitize/wash their hands.
- Should a participant not pass the screening process, they will not be permitted to attend the program and will be referred for testing.
- Those who test negative for COVID-19 will be excluded from HPAC Kids’ Camp until 24 hours after symptom resolution.
- Those who test positive for COVID-19 will be excluded from HPAC Kids’ Camp for 14 days after the onset of symptoms and clearance has been received from the Windsor-Essex Health Unit. The Health Unit will also be consulted for next steps in the event of a positive case.
If a camp participant begins to experience symptoms of COVID-19 while at HPAC Kids’ Camp, the following course of action will be taken:
- Symptomatic camp participants will be immediately separated from others in a supervised area until they can be picked up by a parent/guardian
- The Windsor-Essex Health Unit will be notified of a potential case.
- HPAC Kids’ Camp will follow the Health Unit’s advice regarding next steps (see pages 6-7 of the COVID-19 Guidance: Summer Day Camps document below for more information).
